Individual Job Placement and Support

As mental health providers, we know work fulfills many basic human needs for responsibility, independence and belonging. Now, through an evidence-based, supported employment program called Individual Placement and Support (IPS), all AllHealth Network clients have access to help toward reaching their goals of rejoining the workforce.

In summer 2014 the AllHealth Network supported employment program was awarded $89,000 to implement IPS. This program and funding come from the Dartmouth Evidence-Based Practices Center and is proven to be effective for people who are in recovery from mental illness.

In fact, studies show:

  • IPS is three times more effective than other vocational approaches in helping people with mental illness work competitively.
  • Approximately 40% of clients who obtain a job with help from IPS become steady workers and remain employed a decade later.

IPS is an integrated model of supported employment. Program Manager, Deirdre Sage said, "We all know that meaningful activity is essential to recovery for individuals with mental illness. IPS supports this by allowing anyone that is interested in working with the opportunity to try. We build a support team around the client to help them manage their mental health, and enter and stay in the job market competitively."

All clients of AllHealth Network may access the services of IPS. There are no limitations based on a client's education, experience or income. All that is necessary is the desire to gain employment. You can help get the word out! If you are working with a client who is looking for work, please tell them about this program.
