We invite you to attend our weekly Coffee Connections where we will be discussing and practicing skills from assigned weekly content. Register and we will send either an episode, podcast or article to review for each week’s connection. Come relax and chat about how we can all make life a little bit sweeter, together.

 

 

Weekly discussion topics and assignments:

September 20th & 23rd – The Science of Laughter
Professor Sophie Scott joins Selina & Steve on their podcast Brain Stories to discuss her exploration and understanding behind the science of laughter. We will reflect on her thoughts on why laughter is important and how we can benefit from laughing more.

September 27th & 30th – Mental Fitness
Dr. Emily Anhalt delivers a Ted Talk to discuss how to reframe mental wellness into ongoing and preventative mental fitness. We will discuss her concept of mental fitness and how we can interpret it into our daily lives.

October 4th & 7th – Breathing
Breathing – Lucan Rockwood presents a Ted Talk focusing on the benefits and power of mindful breathing. We will explore breathing strategies to help us live, sleep and stay energized and discuss how to incorporate these techniques day-to-day.

October 11th & 14th – Make Stress Your Friend
Psychologist Kelly McGonigal presents a Ted Talk reframing stress as a positive concept, and introduces us to an expert tool for stress reduction: reaching out to others. Join us in discussing the power of reframing and recycling our stress.

October 18th & 21st – Communication – The Art of Listening
Lewis Howes explores the importance of listening and communicating in our relationships on Chris Lee’s podcast – The Art of Listening. We will discuss the points made in episode 137 about communication and reflect on how we can improve the communication in our own lives.
