Why Am I Like This? (Wed)

December 4 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
|Recurring Group (See all)

An event every week that begins at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, repeating indefinitely

Whether from trauma, mental distress, or just daily stressors, nobody gets through life unscathed. We all have wounds that we carry and the tools within ourselves to heal those wounds if we know where to look. This group is meant to help us find our inner strength and healing through curious exploration, non-intrusive mindfulness, and thoughtful sharing of our individual processes. We will be using meditations and exercises from Internal Family Systems literature that help us connect with our over-burdened parts and free them by building trust within our-selves, hopefully uncovering some answers to the question, “why am I like this?”. This group is a 12-week curriculum, based on the book “No Bad Parts” by Richard C. Schwartz, and other supporting literature from the IFS model. The group is appropriate for clients struggling with mental health concerns, substance use concerns, and those trying to recover from trauma. We will focus on creating a trauma-informed space and leave significant room for folks to process with other group members the things they learn from their parts during mindfulness exercises. The group will be a fairly even split between psychoeducation on IFS concepts, mindfulness exercises/activities, and group processing time.
