What is a Distinguished Fellow?
Distinguished Fellowship is the highest membership distinction awarded by the APA and honors psychiatrists who have gone above and beyond in their professional careers. To earn this status, recipients must demonstrate significant contributions in at least five key areas, such as clinical excellence, teaching, administration, publications, community service, and volunteer work.
This honor reflects not just clinical expertise, but a deep commitment to leadership, scholarship, and service. Dr. Colon-Sanchez’s election as a Distinguished Fellow highlights her dedication to advancing the psychiatric profession and improving mental health care for individuals and communities alike.
We are grateful for Dr. Colon-Sanchez’s leadership, the positive influence she brings to our team, and the recognition she continues to earn on behalf of our organization.
